The Need for Speed but... Calm Inside (Zoom call in one hour!)
Bonjour everyone and welcome to all the new subscribers of my newsletters.
When I was deep in Silicon Valley building a startup I was doing the NFX startup program and received this “teaching”
Speed is the ultimate competitive advantage.
-rapid product beats competition
-rapid results builds team morale which leads to more success
-rapid results generate more interest
-rapid results increases valuation
Startups win when they don’t get lost in politics, focus groups, usability studies, QA, endless debates, boards of directors, business development deals, budgeting processes, marketing plans, [add your own reason here].
I wrote this in 2017 saying that “I was always too slow”
I just spoke to my very good friend Carter Cleveland (instagram), founder of Artsy and he told me he learned the same Silicon Valley focus on speed:
“Speed = survival
I was always thinking how can I overclock my CPU to be the fastest in the room so more people want to work with me or support my entrepreneurial projects. I always wanted to be the smartest and fastest. It was my whole identity.”
Carter did a similar multi-year training with different “mystery schools” as he calls them and learned the same lesson as I did.
This rule simply doesn’t work in consciousness or spiritual work.
I just spent 3 months offline in the Amazon forest in the Muka dieta where my teachers spent their time telling me “Calma Mashkuru” which means “Calm down, bald man”, the name they gave me there.
They repeated and repeated it daily the lesson until I calmed down and slowed down.
Working with such powerful ancestral techniques, plants and animal substances (poison even - I was injected frog poison many times) you just cannot go fast or an accident can happen.
Discipline has to be respected at all times, like a dreamliner (I love the name!) pilot using carefully a checklist even though he has flown that plane for many years.
Learning to cook rice takes ten years to the best japanese sushi masters (watch Jiro dreams of Sushi if you have not). My teachers in the forest have more than twenty years of experience and deep teachings. Some prayer songs are books and take years to learn.
I am executing all I can to prepare PAWA Paris Oct 14-15 but I carefully slow down multiple times a day and meditate or do some consciousness work.
Let me tell you some news now with some speed…

3- We have just secured the amazing Jason Silva to give a keynote at PAWA Paris. Do not miss him, Jason is a visionary and his talks are always mind-blowing.
Jason believes that the modern men and women need to know both modern technologies and ancient wisdom to be at their best. Not just speed and SV type tech.
He will explain his own path and why it is so important to not only master modern tech but also consciousness, spirituality and ancestral tools.
4- If you understand French, I just recorded a podcast with Generation Do It Yourself, one of the largest podcasts, if not the largest, for entrepreneurs in French. I loved it. It’s quite crazy, it’s… 3 full hours!!!
On that, I go back preparing the conference! Thank you for reading, much love.
