twhirl now supports any laconi.ca based site, Leo Laporte and TWiT Army are the first adopters
As the G8 of microblogging bearhugcamp (that you can watch live on TWiT Live) happens today, we are happy to announce that twhirl now supports any laconi.ca based microblogging site. The new preview version of twhirl can point to any laconi.ca installation. What does this mean for you? Anybody can already create its own microblogging server thanks to laconi.ca, now twhirl can be used as a client for these communities. The updates will instantly reach the users if the site supports sending updates via XMPP.
twhirl now also supports incoming messages tracked via the popular IdentiSpy service from Dustin Sallings, there were also some updates on the Twitter support due to Twitter API updates.

Leo Laporte announced that the TWiT army is the first community to use it on its own laconi.ca server. The community can now have a better instant way of staying in touch as it supports XMPP updates. It looks like many users of the TWiT army already loves it.
