Getting things done with Stephanie Booth (and Seesmic du Jour 107)
About year ago my friend Jeremie Berrebi (hey Jeremie I can't believe you are still blogging only in french) was the first to talk to me about Getting Things Done, a method to organize your life that is based on a book. Jeremie showed me the gtd gmail firefox plugin and after installing it I felt it would take me more time to manage that than just manage my current text only based todo list. Jeremie spend about an hour explaining me that I should really really really start and I never did.
Stephanie Booth paid us a visit at the office and is actually working from there today and we had a great sushi lunch (quite hot with Jalapeno rolls....) which we spent talking about GTD. I wonder how the conversation started, it was probably me asking again advice on how to manage my incoming emails (I am still in official email bankruptcy) and how Steph was doing it. Yeah, that is where it started. Stephanie seems so convinced that I really wish I would like to try. What's cool is that Stephanie has written a note on where to start.
Reading the book is the first step, which I will probably end up doing even if I said I would rather have somebody else read it for me first. Kathleen who works with me bought me the audio book. We launched a contest vinvin and myself to see who would succeed really using it in three weeks. I must admit I already feel I won't but will try to read or listen to the book. I hear Scoble tried several times too and never managed.
Stephanie has launched her own conference, Going Solo, for freelancers of the web industry. It aims to provide freelancers with tools to help them manage the business aspect of their work better. If you're interested in going, you should hurry because the early bird price ends at the end of March.
disclaimer: this was actually Stephanie herself typing on my keyboard because she really wanted her marketing pitch well written on my blog. Stephanie really turned into the wrong side of the force... Let's forgive the new entrepreneur for being a great sales person and wish Steph good luck.
