Seesmic day 16

Seesmix: best of 24hrs in Seesmic

There is already so much happening in Seesmic that we are launching a second daily show, Seesmix, edited from the best happening everyday.

Right now it is the Seesmic team deciding what should be in it, as soon as possible it is you, the seesmic viewers, who will decide. We will edit it every single day as of today and the quality will improve as we move along and you have good conversations...

We will also add tags/community features to then created edited daily journals by community.

Here are the two first seesmix, we would love your feedback.

Seesmic day 15: conversation around the video duration

A real conversation around how long should videos be. I vote for no more than 5 minutes.

Seesmic: the genesis of video as conversation ?

EirePreneur thinks our conversation with Scoble of last saturday "is the birth of video as conversation" [...] "Tone of voice, facial expressions and gesticulations gave the conversation a dept of meaning impossible in text only"

glad you like it. For now we are trying to build the best possible video conversation tool with the first 200 users in. I hope it will be as huge as you feel and as I feel too.

Seesmic day 12 - working on the studio !

Here is the day 12 video. Giselle also wrote a summary of your feedback and help about the studio, see below we are still looking for your feedback as we build it. Thanks in advance.

Here are some comments from Giselle: "I'm very happy to say that I've received some very helpful and interesting comments in response to my call for help with the studio! Here are some of the ideas I've gotten...
Roro suggests that we keep the studio "fresh, innovative and great," which is not only a very nice compliment but something we will always try to do to keep things interesting. He encouraged us to change the show, or shows, every time. I personally like this idea very much and would love to hear what elements of the show you think could be changed consistently. Roro also recommended that we keep from putting too much furniture in the room as it is not a huge space and Antoine agreed with him. So, I would love some suggestions as to what sort of furniture to put in the space that would keep it spacious but also very efficient and comfortable for everyone involved. For example, Antoine recommended that we think about a Japanese style design for "simplicity and grace." Sebastien mentioned the possibility of allowing the user/viewer to choose which camera angle they are seeing and also which background - having a default setup but leaving those options open to the user...sounds fun! Guille A. might want to toss the table completely and put folks on the ground in some classy but relaxing furniture to make our guests really feel at home and not under any pressure. Patty suggests using different color backdrops for different subjects on the shows - which, as you may have noticed on the videos, we have come pretty close to when filming in our multi-colored building! Emmanuel, Frederic, Nomalz and David have also offered some helpful advice on mics and cameras.
So that is a quick summary of the feedback you have sent so far, which is very much appreciated, and we are thinking about all these ideas while welcoming more! Please let me know if you have any replies to the ideas I mentioned above or any new ideas of your own, I would love to hear them so keep them coming. You can email me at giselle (at) seesmic.com. Thanks!"

Lots of random evening thoughts

Just had coffee with Om Malik and Matt Mullenweg, we had an interesting conversation about creativity and open source. I had also had a great similar exchange with Philippe Starck [fr] who explained me that be creative he had to isolate himself from anybody and just look at the sea. The last thing he wants is to exchange with a crowd about his ideas, he explained it is very single and individual. When you see what Wikipedia is today there is "wisdom of the crowd" but can it be creative for say or just execute ?

Matt said I should absolutely check out the Menphis Minnies barbecue around the corner from my house. Thanks Matt, happy to see you again it has been a while, would love to talk more soon, maybe the barbecue together ?

Robert points out that Google Reader now tells in the open how many subscribers you have and counts how many readers we have. Robert says I have 1538 subscribers just in Google reader. Interesting, and it is spread amongst the different feeds I have in English and French I guess. Dave is adding the list in Google spreadsheet.

Dave is testing his french accent in Seesmic and I called him to say it made my day. Why ? Because when you have been working so hard (my tech team, not me) to get Seesmic out and you see the first friends having fun in it, it really makes your day, you know the feeling. About 20 friends are in Seesmic since today playing with it, won't link to all of them but will do a best of show tomorrow morning. I love you all for your help.

We discussed about context in Seesmic with Ben and the idea of asking questions to the users, without telling them what to do but just to start conversations, like "What do you think of Al Gore getting the Nobel ?" (what do you think by the way ? I think it's great, let his voice be louder).

Started running again. It feels really good in the Golden Gate park. Last year precisely I was running my first half Marathon, the 20km de Paris. Did it in 1h35 minutes blogged with details. I had even a podcast with my run in Google earth. Wished I would have run it today too. What are the cool half-marathons in the bay area ?New blog templateI am fed up with friends critcizing the fact that my blog gets ages to load (but thank them for that) so I thank Stephane Rangaya for making a new TypePad template. What do you think about it ? I like it but I think we can improve it. I want it very very simple and fast to load. Your feedback welcome.
Update: Michael adds the excel spreadsheet I think it is an interesting ranking however I have 4 different RSS feeds, two in french and two in english so I wonder about how reliable it is and I guess many people are in my case.

Quelques suggestions de contenu pour les prochaines videos:

- Comment as tu trouve le nom seesmic?

About

Welcome to my blog. Based in San Francisco, I am an entrepreneur and a blogger. I just started my fifth startup, Seesmic, a community driven video social software. Here is what TechCrunch says about it.

I am blogging every day a video on loic.tv about (almost) everything I do as I start Seesmic, I also constantly post short thoughts to twitter and often my pictures on Flickr.

I also organize every year in Paris the conference LeWeb3 that gathers more than a thousand bloggers and entrepreneurs from 40 countries on Dec 11 and 12.

If you would like to learn more, here is a bio, my LinkedIn profile, my wikipedia pages in english and french. Sometimes they are subject to changes that do not always reflect what I consider the truth but that is the principle.

You may also want to subscribe to my RSS feeds in English, French or my video podcast feed.
