Blogakademy first international tentative

I have started an experiment on my french blog:

-open it to guest authors
-I just asked the candidates to post a video to introduce themselves and explain what they would like to post about
-I gathered a jury of top french blogger friends (there are many other french blogger who are not there too) and a few non bloggers too
-I gave a week to gather the videos, then they will post during two weeks on my blog
-the jury will decide the winner and I will give 500€ to the winner as a coupon on Amazon, paypal, a sexshop, etc... whatever the winer prefers :)

it seems to start very well as as of today there are about 15 videos of candidates and many very very very funny.

So I thought I would try it international too, but I will need the support of friends visible bloggers outside France, as my blog alone in english is a start but will not be enough I am sure. The idea should be a kind of a common recipient for the candidates, perhaps a new blog (I registered blogakademy.com for example :) that would get some support from you and the jury to get started. Let's see...

So let's start by gathering the jury ! Who should be on the jury for your country ? Let me add a few friends names on my mind and see if they accept... Sure, I forgot many very good bloggers and friends, it's late in Paris, so forgive me and email me at blog (at) loiclemeur.com or just comment... (I will update this post as the jury is formed in each country, let's gather say 10 people per Country ?)

Well, just let me know if you're interested by the idea, and willing to help, that would be a good start, and don't blame me for not being perfect on the below list, just trying... :)

Ouriel Ohayon

Hej Loïc,

I am very sorry that my first post did not seem to work. I tried commenting using a Nokia E61i - apparently not a good idea.

Here is what I originally wanted to post:

In addition to the nominees for Germany I propose that you ask:

a) Klaus Eck
b) Stefan Niggemeier
c) Katharina Borchert aka Lyssa
d) Timo Heuer (yes, I know he is only 15 years old but I believe he is able to accept and handle this challanging job)

Again, sorry for the first empty posting.

Kind regards,
Oliver

btw: did I already mention that the blogakademy-idea rocks?!

Hey nice idea!

What about Canada? ;)

ilias, July 05, 2007 at 06:28

Wouldn't mind to be on the jury for the Netherlands :)

Others to be considered for the Netherlands:
- Heleen van Oord (dqa.nl)
- Lianne van der Kruk (ilsemedia.nl)
- Daniëlle Jansen (amazingg.nl)
- Raymond Spanjar (Hyves.nl)
- Paul Molenaar (Ilse.nl)
- Igor Beuker (lacomunidad.nl)
- Marco Derksen (upstream.nl - marketingfacts.nl)

gimme an 'm'! :)

how about the following people for Germany:
Nicole Simon, Vasco Sommer, Don Dahlmann?

Nico Lumma, July 05, 2007 at 07:00

I am from Canada and would like to do a video in at least nine languages on the need for a paradigm shift in our approach to language learning, or should I stay in just one or two. Francais bien sur, et peut-etre quelques langues asiatiques ainsi que l'anglais.

Steve Kaufmann, July 05, 2007 at 08:08

Why don't you add Luca Conti and Tony Siino from Italy?

Stefano Baldini, July 05, 2007 at 14:12

What a great idea that this International Blogging Idol ;-) It could be the start of an international network of bloggers. Very smart, Loic.

I second the previous comments from the Canadians. You need a Canadian contest as well.

For the American contest, how about inviting Shel Holtz and Steve Rubel?

And, if you ever do a contest for bloggers in higher education, I'm in as a jury member.

Good luck.

Just a small remark on your English spelling: in English all nationalities and languages are CAPITALIZED: French, European, Spanish, etc. It just hurts my eyes when I see "european" in your LeWeb 3.0 pdf.

Marcos Martinez Sancho, July 05, 2007 at 15:34

Very good idea, but what about Latin America?

Francesco Cardi, July 05, 2007 at 19:51

Sure - go for it. In Canada, I'd nominate Neil MacIntyre.

Dennis Howlett, July 06, 2007 at 20:44

How about Hugh MacLeod, Johnnie Moore and Alex Bellinger for UK

Dennis Howlett, July 06, 2007 at 20:49

thanks for your positive comments ! Nico I added your "m" sorry about this.

All suggestions great, I wrote the post very fast so forgot many people.

Look forward to a second pass soon, and I'll launch it, I think we can do something really cool

Thanks, friends

Loic, July 06, 2007 at 23:29

What about Belgium ?

I would suggest Damien of bloggingthenews.info and Monique of webatou.be

About

Welcome to my blog. Based in San Francisco, I am an entrepreneur and a blogger. I just started my fifth startup, Seesmic, a community driven video social software. Here is what TechCrunch says about it.

I am blogging every day a video on loic.tv about (almost) everything I do as I start Seesmic, I also constantly post short thoughts to twitter and often my pictures on Flickr.

I also organize every year in Paris the conference LeWeb3 that gathers more than a thousand bloggers and entrepreneurs from 40 countries on Dec 11 and 12.

If you would like to learn more, here is a bio, my LinkedIn profile, my wikipedia pages in english and french. Sometimes they are subject to changes that do not always reflect what I consider the truth but that is the principle.

You may also want to subscribe to my RSS feeds in English, French or my video podcast feed.
