Public service TV France 2 caught in anti-Sarkozy translation in the US

Sarkoinflatfrance2

Every day the France 2 (one of the largest public TV) news is broadcasted in the US in French with subtitles. The original sentence of Sarkozy was "I invite all the French to join forces with me" the translator wrote "to rally my inflated ego". via Jean-Marc Morandini [fr]

This is very funny! And a good publicity stunt.

What a dishonesty ! Trying to accredit the fact that public French TV France 2 tries to tarnish Mr. Sarkozy's image, whereas it's simply a bad joke made by a (probably American) translater that went through the checking process, that's a bit much !

Is there a single American that coud really believe a presidential candidate can express himself this way ? Or have they been stolen their brain ?

Such a manipulation is definitely reprehensible and miserable, but only deserves a big LOL (I guess the person who made it has already had some words with the boss, if not been fired). On the opposite when watching NSTV (Nicolas Sarkozy's TV), one laughs not so much.

In case of a bad translation (by a native French, me ;-) ) please refer to the original text below :

More info after my first comment : the culprit HAS been fired, of course. Heard on French public radio (France Inter) today at 1:00 PM. But please don't mix up a bad joke with propaganda. If you want to see some, have a look there instead :

and particularly "mardi 17 avril 2007"
(in French only, sorry)

So much for objective news reporting. He'll probably end up working at Fox News - where he belongs.

I subscribe to TV5 and TV2 through Comcast Cable TV
and rely very much on translation for their nightly news. AT first I was not too happy to hear this, but then I know that there has been tension between Europe and the USA, so it should be taken with a grain of salt, and I just hope France and the USA will get along even better than before with this new and promising President ! Viva La France, Viva La America.! Tres Bien TV5 news !

Welcome to my blog. Based in San Francisco, I am an entrepreneur and a blogger. I just started my fifth startup, Seesmic, a community driven video social software. Here is what TechCrunch says about it.

I am blogging every day a video on loic.tv about (almost) everything I do as I start Seesmic, I also constantly post short thoughts to twitter and often my pictures on Flickr.

I also organize every year in Paris the conference LeWeb3 that gathers more than a thousand bloggers and entrepreneurs from 40 countries on Dec 11 and 12.

If you would like to learn more, here is a bio, my LinkedIn profile, my wikipedia pages in english and french. Sometimes they are subject to changes that do not always reflect what I consider the truth but that is the principle.
