Ran 17,4 km this morning in Paris

My coach will be happy, I ran twice around the Bois de Boulogne this morning non-stop, 17,42km which is not that far from a semi marathon (21,0975 km), it will be for next time.

Here are the stats provided by my Garmin Forerunner 301:

tour1: 00:55:38 - 08,79km - av. speed 09,5 km/h - cal tot: 914 - bpm moy: 171
tour2: 00:45:17 - 08,63km - av. speed. 11,4 km/h- cal tot: 954 - bpm moy: 182
total: 01:40:55 - 17,42km - vav. speed. 10,5 km/h

The heart pace is clearly wrong, too high. I tried the virtual partner mode at the second tour and it's pretty cool, you setup your 'partner' at a given speed and run against him. I chose 10 km/h for him and managed to beat him by 1.2 km. It's fun because when you slow down obviously "he" catches up.

In 6 months I went through some progress, in one month my average speed went from 8 km/h to 10.5 km/h which is still quite slow. At this pace I had only 3 or 4 people overpass me during two hours, I guess the average "sunday runner" does more like 9 km/h. The result on my weight in 6 months is pretty good as I lost 10 kg, from 105 to 95...

Last time I ran that much my feet and legs hurt way more, I droped my Nike for my new Asics and I really don't regret that choice, most Nike shoes are just marketing...

I can attest to the weight loss thing Loic - you looked a lot trimmer when I saw you in December from the time I sasw you in June. I wish I had your commitment.

Loic, I have to agree with the shoes. I bought some Adidas running shoes only to discover that they aren't made for people to run with (had 2 5cm blisters after a 5k run!)

I run with Asics nowadays and they do feel great compared to all my previous shoes.

I use the 301 too Loic - but I haven't got it working with Google Earth yet - I'm obviously losing my geek-touch :) How do you do this? Is it Mac based?

I agree with you about the Nike shoes - there are exceptions though, such as the Pegasus. Nike shoes are no good for me - I run in Brooks these days...

Nice run though...

You guys should checkout the shoes that came out from Nike with Ipod applications. Nike and Apple coming together is a perfect combination and if this can motivate a healthier lifestyle than more power to them.

Welcome to my blog. Based in San Francisco, I am an entrepreneur and a blogger. I just started my fifth startup, Seesmic, a community driven video social software. Here is what TechCrunch says about it.

I am blogging every day a video on loic.tv about (almost) everything I do as I start Seesmic, I also constantly post short thoughts to twitter and often my pictures on Flickr.

I also organize every year in Paris the conference LeWeb3 that gathers more than a thousand bloggers and entrepreneurs from 40 countries on Dec 11 and 12.

If you would like to learn more, here is a bio, my LinkedIn profile, my wikipedia pages in english and french. Sometimes they are subject to changes that do not always reflect what I consider the truth but that is the principle.
