First day in Davos, meeting Oliver, a great German entrepreneur

mar. 25.01.2005 13:57 Photo(479)Very intense discussions today, I'll try to write more tonight but I am here now with Oliver Samwer of Jamba! discussing about... weblogs of course. I am very impressed by the growth of Jamba! Worldwide and happy to meet a fellow european entrepreneur.

I am sure Oliver and his brothers have some good ideas about blogging in Germany. It´s about time good old Germany wakes up to blogging. We are trying our best as well, by providing a new blog hosting service since yesterday on www.blog.de so that more Germans can start a blog these days :-)

It´s pretty naked still, but will evolve over time hopefully

Oh, please tell your readership what this guy has to say about blogs...

Dominik, January 25, 2005 at 15:40

And don't forget to ask him about the spreeblick.de article that covered Jamba! ;-)

Mario, January 25, 2005 at 17:17

Loic, (hi :-)

you know for sure the story about german bloggers and Jamba, dont you (a small analogy to Kryptonite)? Ask him, maybe he can tell you some enjoying stories :-))

Robert, January 25, 2005 at 17:19

Hey German friends you could be nicer on my blog with my new German entrepreneur friend Oliver, there aren't that many in Europe :-)

Anyway, Oliver has read your comments and know apparently what you are talking about, I think Oliver is considering launching his own blog so stay tuned !

Loic, January 25, 2005 at 17:38

fantastic. And, Loic, dont understand us wrong, we are nice. Im sure we dont mean the entrepreneur Jamwer, we mean Jamwer the company itself since it was something like small media-publishing break-through for the german blogosphere ;-)

Robert, January 25, 2005 at 17:47

Loic,

despite living in Berlin and not knowing Oliver personally, I would assume we can be more curious about Oliver´s future blog hosting service - maybe "jamblogs" ?? :-))

It would not surprise me if his fingers are a little triggerhappy already, especially after talking to you :-)

But I would definately be interested in his own blog as well, count me in :-)

Vasco, January 25, 2005 at 17:49

Hearing the news of Oliver considering to start a blog himself is excellent. But I would like to see him persuading his brothers to join the blogosphere as they are ambitious entrepreneurs, as well.

Although not being a big fan of Jamba! I firmly believe that the Samwer brothers deserve big credit for their alando.de venture.

Mario, January 25, 2005 at 18:14

That's what I like about blogs is usually the discussion gets balanced in some way. I hear some people posted in German bad comments on me saying "great" entrepreneur.

Well don't hit me on this. I have been three years in Davos and never met young German entrepreneurs there yet. Europe is kind of asleep and too much into comfort so I am very happy when I meet european entrepreneurs.

No if there is some controversial discussion about Jamba! on blogs, it is still I think a good risk taking and a good company development. As far as the controvertial talks are concerned, unfortunately I don't speak german so I cannot read, discuss and judge.

All I can say is Oliver is definitely a very nice person to spend time with and if you are not happy about what Jamba! is doing, well tell him, I really hope he will start is blog.

Looks like I will be in Berlin on February 11th, anybody interested in a dinner the day before ?

Loic, January 25, 2005 at 23:40

Hi Loic, lets meet on February here in Berlin and I will explain you the Jambä! businessmodel from my perspective.

Alexander Korte, January 30, 2005 at 14:58

well, well, after all:

to ego-boosting bobos eat out ... ;-))))

About

Welcome to my blog. Based in San Francisco, I am an entrepreneur and a blogger. I just started my fifth startup, Seesmic, a community driven video social software. Here is what TechCrunch says about it.

I am blogging every day a video on loic.tv about (almost) everything I do as I start Seesmic, I also constantly post short thoughts to twitter and often my pictures on Flickr.

I also organize every year in Paris the conference LeWeb3 that gathers more than a thousand bloggers and entrepreneurs from 40 countries on Dec 11 and 12.

If you would like to learn more, here is a bio, my LinkedIn profile, my wikipedia pages in english and french. Sometimes they are subject to changes that do not always reflect what I consider the truth but that is the principle.
