A real Sauna in Helsinki

I love Sauna and Marko invited Joi, Heiko and me in Helsinki to experiment a genuine finnish sauna at the Finnish Sauna Society.

The saunas are heated by a classic fire, not electric, and very different to any other Sauna I have experimented before, the wood is very dark, there is few light inside and the feeling of the non electric heat is very good. We have had five saunas and five jumps in the 8 degrees sea (there was a beautiful clear sky and our jump was surrounded by trees). The more you jump and sauna, the less you feel the temperature difference even tough I had never heard my heart that way before. It was a real pleasure to whip Joi (and get whipped too of course) with birch branches.

We stayed some time naked outside with an outside temperature of just a few degrees without even feeling it just before cooking our own sausages.

The whole, amazing experience, took several hours. Now I want to be back in Helsinki again when it is colder for avantouinti. Thanks again, Marko.

Update: Euan and Marc laugh at my bad english :=)

Your English is great Loic - I was just being smutty about the double meaning in English of sausages and the image it conjured up!

Don't let the English bother you. More people should speak more languages, and fair play to everyone that makes the effort!

Loic, I'm glad to see you enjoyed the Finnish Sauna as much as I did. I love the finnish sauna. Especially like those finns use it. In and out then go swimming :)

Loic,

Sounds like you really enjoyed the Finnish Sauna. Have you checked out the new infrared saunas? They're different, but also very enjoyable.

About

Welcome to my blog. Based in San Francisco, I am an entrepreneur and a blogger. I just started my fifth startup, Seesmic, a community driven video social software. Here is what TechCrunch says about it.

I am blogging every day a video on loic.tv about (almost) everything I do as I start Seesmic, I also constantly post short thoughts to twitter and often my pictures on Flickr.

I also organize every year in Paris the conference LeWeb3 that gathers more than a thousand bloggers and entrepreneurs from 40 countries on Dec 11 and 12.

If you would like to learn more, here is a bio, my LinkedIn profile, my wikipedia pages in english and french. Sometimes they are subject to changes that do not always reflect what I consider the truth but that is the principle.
